Music

Music is an important part of many social rituals and the funeral service is no exception. Music at the funeral service can help us access our feelings and memories of a loved one, both happy and sad. It helps us to think about our loss and embrace our painful feelings of grief. Consider music that was meaningful to your loved one and to your family.

The funeral arranger will often require between three and five pieces of music for the funeral service:

  • Entrance
  • Reflection time (when mourners come forward and pay their respects)
  • The visual eulogy DVD (sometimes may require two songs)
  • Exit


The visual eulogy

We can include a visual eulogy during the funeral service to help you and your family and friends celebrate the life of your loved one with photos and music.

The visual eulogy DVD is produced from approximately 25-30 images of your loved one and family which are matched to music (one or two songs) of your choosing.

Produced by Archer and Sons Funeral Homes, the images will be treated with utmost care, carefully scanned and edited/restored on our photo editing software, then placed in sequence with your choice of music to create a touching DVD.

Once the funeral service has taken place the visual eulogy can be uploaded to the Archer and Sons website for the family members or friends that were unable to attend the funeral service. This will be linked into the personal funeral notice on the Archer and Sons Funeral Homes website only once the family have given their permission to allow our staff to upload the tribute.

Some key points to remember if you would like Archer and Sons Funeral Homes to produce a visual eulogy:

  1. Choose up to 30 photos in the order that you would like them. Marked 1-30 on the back of photo
  2. Choose a main or first photo for the screen – clearly marked as “lead” photo.
  3. Full name, date of birth and date of death. Include any nickname i.e. William is known as Bill.
  4. Music – a song of 4 ½ minutes is required for 30 photos. If the music is too short, please choose a second piece of music – (we have a large selection of songs that we have on file that have been extended to suit the DVDs if this helps).
  5. Photos – can be hard copy photos or digital.
  6. If you scan your own photos, they must be scanned at a resolution of 300dpi or above. Do not crop them.
  7. Please make the photos and music available for the Funeral Director no later than three days prior to the service.

Printing

We offer a variety of printed materials, including bookmarks, order of services, bereavement cards and magnets as a tribute to your loved one.

These personalised materials can be a keepsake for those who attend and are also great to post to relatives or friends who are unable to be at there on the day.

We have a variety of themes to choose from or we can even produce a bookmark and other materials from your own family photos.
